Emeralds

Emeralds are in the category of the beryl group, which consist of aluminum beryllium silicates, with a hardness between 7 and 8.
Emeralds are notably green in color and are one of the most popular within the mineral world. Most emeralds come from Columbia, Brazil and Zambia, but there are many other locations that also mine for them and they are currently the most valuable gemstones in the world.

This particular emerald is a Columbian Emerald, housed in the Museum of Natural History in New York.
